March is the month for colon cancer awareness.  Many people don’t know that colon cancer is the third most common cancer and the third most deadly in the U.S. Your diet directly affects the overall health of your kidney and can contribute to preventing colon disorders like colon cancer.

Barley, quinoa, whole wheat flour, wild and brown rice and oatmeal are recommended for a healthy diet. These grains contain colon-friendly vitamins, minerals, and fiber necessary for preventing colon disorders.
